Christ-Focused Relationships

Sermon Series

Passage: Colossians 3:18-4:1 — The supremacy of Christ impacts all the relationships in our life. Tonight's message looks at how our focus on Christ should shape our relationships, both in the family and the workplace. Paul encourages us to look beyond immediate commands to eternal examples. For wives, this means submission "as is fitting in the Lord," mirroring the church's submission to Christ. Husbands are called to love their wives as Christ loved the church, nourishing and cherishing them. Children should obey their parents because it pleases the Lord, while fathers are to avoid provoking their children, instead encouraging their growth in faith. In the workplace, employees should work heartily "as for the Lord," not just for men, acknowledging God's provision and ultimate authority. Bosses are reminded to treat their subordinates justly and fairly, as they too have a Master in heaven. These commands, though challenging, become possible as the Holy Spirit shapes us to be more like Christ.
