Don’t Reject Jesus

Passage: Luke 11:14-36 — In today's passage, after Jesus delivers a man from an evil spirit, he is rejected by the people around for two different reasons: Some attribute his work to Satan, being so bent on finding fault that they can’t even accept something amazing has happened. The others are simply still not convinced. They need to see more. These two groups represent two of the most natural inclinations of the human heart. If we’re honest, isn’t it so natural to find fault, to see the negative, to miss the good right in front of us? Aren’t we also tempted to keep hope at an arm’s length – to delay going all in until we get more evidence that it really is worth it? The big idea is Don’t Reject Jesus – don’t let these natural doubtful dispositions settle into your heart. We can learn from Jesus how to avoid it. First, recognize the king’s authority, and second, receive the king’s light.
