Proverbs: Life in the Real World

One major feature of the world God created, is that he made us to thrive when we have good friends. It's clear from Proverbs that how we approach friendship can make or break us. My heart is to encourage you and build you up tonight, and give you tools from Proverbs for forming strong friendships wherever he has you, so that you're home anywhere the Lord sees fit to root you, even in a city as overwhelming at times as New York. Loneliness and isolation will slowly drain your hope. When you have community, you're home, wherever you are. The Big Idea is this: Forge wise friendships. We'll look at four marks of a wise friend. Now, I could have said, 'be a wise friend'. I could have just as easily have said 'find wise friends'. But I said 'forge wise friendships' because the marks of a wise friend apply both to you, and to those you choose to be your friends. You must be a wise friend to find wise friends. We'll start with the first mark.
