Proverbs: Life in the Real World

God made the world this way: give and it will be given to you. Hold back, and you'll ultimately find yourself lacking. He rewards those who are generous! It's how he designed the world to work. Why? To show off who he is. He's an incredibly giving God. And to point us to the pinnacle point of history where we witness the sheer breadth of his generosity, when he chose not to withhold, but freely give us the most precious treasure he had in the universe: His only Son. Therefore, the wise, those who truly understand how God designed the world, use their resources to take care of others. In return, God personally cares for them. It's not, 'your self-care sets the standard.' It's 'your care for others sets the standard.' The Big Idea tonight: Be Generous Like God. Proverbs teaches three primary ways how to do this. Give regularly, give joyfully, and give sacrificially.
