Passage: Luke 4:14-44 — The question Luke’s gospel investigates is this: Who is Jesus? The answers will be like scenes in a documentary, each one revealing a new side of his life, his ministry, and his message. Tonight, the answer he gives is our Big Idea: Jesus is the Anointed Preacher. He’s sent and empowered by God – he’s anointed by God – to preach good news to the poor. Jesus is the Anointed Preacher. Preaching always calls for a response. We’ll walk through the passage in three sections, and see how each calls for a response from us. First, understand his mission. Second, know him inwardly. Third, receive his ministry.
