Praise God in the Ups and the Downs

Passage: Psalm 30 – Too much prosperity can make you proud and self-absorbed. On the other hand, prolonged difficulty can make you bitter and jaded. How do we have a good relationship with blessing and hardship? How can we prosper without growing proud, and suffer without growing bitter? Psalm 30 answers this for us by calling us to praise the Lord. Praise is powerful. It orients us away from our circumstances to God who is working in our circumstances. So the big idea is this: Praise God in the ups and the downs. Why? Praise helps us see God in our highs and lows in three ways. First, how he humbles the proud. Second, how he saves the desperate, and third, how he turns our sorrow to joy.
