Repent and Bear Fruit

Luke: God's Promise Fulfilled

Passage: Luke 13:1-9 — How do we respond when we’re confronted with evil and suffering? We grieve. We hope. We resolve. Jesus takes us one step further: we let it wake us up to our own spiritual reality. Jesus calls us to be perceptive about our sorrows and to learn the deepest lessons from tragic circumstances. We remember, there’s such a thing as evil. There’s something wrong with the world. We need a hope from outside this world. Twice, Jesus says, unless you repent, you will all likewise perish. And then he calls us to bear fruit before it’s too late. Repent and bear fruit. That’s the big idea of the sermon.
