Passage: Luke 9:18-27 — The focus tonight is on what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. In our passage, Luke answers the question, “who is Jesus?” We learn that He is the Christ of God and that the Christ must suffer, die and be risen. As his disciples, our path is no different – we’re headed for glory, but not right away. Our path also takes us through suffering and death. This is our big idea: Take up your cross and follow Jesus. Luke gives us three reasons why in this passage: First, He is the Christ. Second, he took up his cross. And third, the cross is the only path to glory.
