What's the value of a text like this? It's invaluable. Woman, it's invaluable to have God's perspective on womanhood. Men, it's invaluable as well, to know that womanhood was God's design, for all of our benefit. That's why this text is a treasure. God has a bias when it comes to womanhood. He has an opinion. He has a perspective on what excellent womanhood looks like. In God's perspective, women find a hopeful picture of their own potential, and men find a glorious display of his creative power. Here's the big idea from our text today. It comes from the last two verses, the very ending of the book of Proverbs – chapter 31:30-31. Iconic verses. Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her of the fruit of her hands, and let her works praise her in the gates. The big idea is this: Honor Women Who Fear the Lord. And we'll look from our text at three aspects of the honorable woman: her value, her character, and her beauty.
