Passage: Luke 6:37-45 — This week, we pick things up with Jesus unpacking the theme of mercy. The Big Idea: The kingdom people of Jesus are merciful toward others. He says to those of us who are his disciples - we’re not the kind of people who are harsh and critical, we’re not the kind of people who hypocritically nitpick the faults of others while being unaware of our own, and we’re not the kind of people who convince ourselves we’re good people, even while we go about spreading negativity and hate everywhere. On the contrary, we’re merciful toward others. In three teachings, he shows how his people will be merciful. They’ll be forgiving and gracious, They’ll be discerning and self-aware and they’ll bear good fruit from a renewed heart.
