Passage: Daniel 2:1-49 — We live increasingly in interesting times. Our country is divided by two competing visions for the future. Our news cycle thrusts us into this battle and makes us feel like we have no choice but to pick a side. When visions for the future clash, we see the ugly side of humanity. Christians approach the future differently. We have God’s vision for the future, so we don’t fear, we radically trust him. We don’t manipulate, we act faithfully, and we don’t resort to brutality, but rather sacrificial love. Our vision isn’t to exalt man, but God. The Big Idea of Daniel 2 is this: Trust the True God with Your Future. And we’ll learn from our passage tonight how to approach the future. We’ll see first, why we struggle with the future, second, how God governs the future, and finally how to know your future is secure.
